Classic duels use Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, and Team Rocket only (311 cards). Later expansions remain browsable in the archive for future releases. Search by Pokémon, Trainer, attack or set ID. Card art needs an internet connection.
60-card decks; 7-card opening hand with player-selected Active/Bench and automatic Basic Pokémon mulligans; 6 Prize cards; 1 Active and up to 5 Benched Pokémon; one Energy attachment per turn; Basic Pokémon and evolutions; attack Energy costs; weakness ×2; resistance −30; retreat; discard; Poison, Burn, Sleep, Paralysis and Confusion; Knock Outs; win by 6 Prizes, no opposing Pokémon, or failed draw. The prototype includes a CPU player.
Important: this is an early playable engine, not complete historical card-by-card rules fidelity. Classic contains 311 printed card records, 427 attack records and 52 Pokémon Power records. All 427 Classic attack records now have headless programs, and the 41 Trainer and 52 Power records have handlers. Try the Authoritative Classic Duel to play through the server rules; this original browser duel remains available as a fallback. Historical accuracy and every cross-card interaction are not yet certified; see CLASSIC_COVERAGE.json and CLASSIC_MILESTONE.md. The later-set Trainers that previously blocked us are outside the current playable pool.
Classic-era rules: no modern Supporter/Pokémon ex mechanics, historical status timing and Trainer card types. First-turn attacking is allowed under the original era rules. The CPU is a baseline heuristic, not a tournament AI.

window.NeoCampus.engine exposes match state and operations. Campaign rewards and NPC opponents can supply decks through engine.start(deckA, deckB). Run npm run cards to cache the complete archive for offline play.
